a (belated) anniversary: linds & justin 11.06.11

Just a little over a year ago, Lindsay & Justin tied the knot in Waterloo!

And just a little over a year before that I was introduced to Lindsay through a dear mutual friend (who next year, will actually become another one of my brides!! Congrats Em!!) Linds and I hit it off right away. What was supposed to be an initial wedding consultation turned into a 2 hour lunch on a patio downtown, with what felt like a close girlfriend.  It was so easy to like Lindsay! She was super sweet and down to earth, funny and SO stunning. And, when I finally got to meet Justin, it made total sense - not to be a complete cliche - but he is absolutely her other half: sweet, down to earth, funny and adorable!

When Lindsay sent me the news that she and Justin had decided to book me I was floored! Like so excited (I would be lying to you if I said I didn't cry a little). At the time, it was the summer of 2010 and I was still running Sweet Woodruff as my "side job" while I worked for the consulting firm. Lindsay and Justin's wedding would be the biggest I had booked so far. I was so honoured that they trusted me, and put their wedding in my hands - it was actually a huge stepping stone to getting me to where I am now.

So, for the next year and a bit we planned and planned and planned some more! There were numerous trips out to Waterloo, more lunches, coffees, phone calls and literally hundreds of emails.

I remember so vividly the days leading up to their big day - and mine. They were fun, and stressful, and  overwhelming and incredibly exciting! These were the days before I had the help of my incredible girls who work in the shop with me, so it was just me - and of course my amazing mother. I think the week before the wedding we were up every night until at least 2 or 3am cutting ribbon for candy bags, printing and gluing table numbers and menus, sewing and ironing linen table runner, stuffing handmade personalized drink tickets into bags for every guest - the WORKS!

The big day came and I had literally enlisted the help of my entire family, my brother, my mom, dad, my mom's best friend Pat, even my aunt and uncle who live in Waterloo. If I'm being honest there were some snags, in fact the entire morning was mostly a comedy of errors (thanks for the laughs dad). But we got threw it, and the end results - beautiful! Lindsay  looked breathtaking and everything came together just as we planned... maybe even a little bit better ;)

Now a year later, I look back on this wedding with so much pride - and feel a little like I'm kinda sharing this anniversary with them.

Happy (belated) Anniversary guys! Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your big day - I still feel honoured that you trusted me. What a milestone that day was - for all of us! I miss you both! xo
